Does Cover Whale offer Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement (UIIA) coverage?

Yes! Cover Whale participates in the Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement (UIIA), a program administered by the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA).

Our UIIA guidelines for Auto Liability are:

  • Targeting 1-25 power units at bind
  • Growth of 2 additional power units per quarter allowed above the original cap of 25 units
  • A dashcam is required for Auto Liability
  • 2 years minimum driving experience with a similar vehicle
  • All drivers and vehicles must be scheduled
  • Tractors and trailers must be newer than 23 years old
  • Currently offering non-admitted in these states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia. Please note that availability may be subject to change.
  • Admitted states are coming soon!

Here's how agents can get certified:

Once the policy or endorsement is bound, an agent can file for certification with IANA at UIIA.org. Or Cover Whale can file on the agent's behalf, but the agent must provide the following:

  • Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC). This identifies the transportation company for which the policyholder is hauling. This will need to be added as a note in the Cover Badger Platform.
  • UIIA Form 5c. Agents can obtain the form at https://uiia.intermodal.org/documents/uiia/epchec.pdf. This will also need to be added as a note in the Cover Badger Platform.
  • Agents must provide their agent code. If an agent doesn't have a UIIA agent code and needs to obtain it, they can watch this helpful video from UIIA. The agent code will need to be added as a note in the Cover Badger Platform.
